Event Title: MHA CAPSTONE PRESENTATIONS

Participants will learn:

How to utilize process mapping and stakeholder engagement and address inefficiencies in the discharge process including the development of a partnership network.
How to investigate adolescents’ perspectives on safeguarding confidentiality and privacy during virtual healthcare sessions.
How to identify core challenges leaders face in virtual environments—such as weakened social cues, reduced informal interaction, motivation declines, and increased conflict—and evaluates their impact on team performance and well-being.

The MHA Capstone presentations are designed for newly graduated Masters of Health Administration (or variations) students to share their research with the healthcare industry. This year we have three students with the following topics:

Improving the Health Status of the Community

Healthcare organizations exist to serve the communities in which they reside. Due to the implementation of the key components of the healthcare reform by legislation, it will be even more important that provider organizations are both aware of and responsive to the health status and disease states that are most prevalent in their communities. Not only is a population-based focus the right thing to do, but it may prove to be the financially astute course of action. Join us for a panel discussion on what others are doing to improve the health status in their community.

Registering for this program is a two-step process. You must complete both steps to get face-to-face credits.

Step 2) You must register on the ACHE platform to complete your registration in order to have access to the login credentials for the June program. There is no additional cost associated with this second step. A link to the ACHE Registration site will be included in your registration confirmation email.

Join us for an in-person GLACHE event geared to focus on operational planning and throughput in healthcare!

10:00am-10:30am: Registration

10:30 am- 12:00pm: Implementing strategic plans for successful operations

Once the strategic plan is developed, the work is only half done. Without effective implementation, a strategic plan may be no more than a fancy binder on a shelf. Leaders face many challenges in getting organization wide buy-in of the goals and plan and in setting up a system of accountability to ensure that the strategic plan is followed. This program will review common situations and concerns addressed by the panelists when implementing their strategic plans.

1:00pm-2:30pm Improving the bottom line by optimizing throughput

Effective patient throughput is a challenge for most organizations even though a sound program can significantly affect operational costs, service capacity, and patient experience. Creating good patient throughput includes strategies that closely align organizational structures, processes, and people to initiate discharge execution at the time of admission. Results of a sound program may include increased bed capacity, improved revenue, and reduced costs. This discussion will explore strategies to reduce excess inpatient days and create bed capacity through multiple interlocking clinical initiatives.
